SHOULD YOU HIRE A MALE NANNY?

-->

When it comes to our children safety is most important when deciding to leave your child with some one else. It does not matter if it is family of friends you always want to ensure that your child feels loved and protected while you are away. It has been generally thought that men are not good at taking care of children but this wide spread belief has been proven wrong.

The 21century brings with it some changes such as the popularity of male nannies even though skepticism about this still exists. Let’s face it; there are a lot of unsettling stories out there about nannies abusing children, pedophiles and predators. These stories also include women so it’s no wonder people are so sensitive when it comes to who cares for their children.

Even so there are many benefits to male nannies. If you have boys a good male confidant and role model is always needed. Also it is believed that male nannies are better physically able to deal with children with special needs especially those who are wheelchair bound. In my opinion male nannies are great for boys,not so much for girls but then again that depends on your children's preference.

 There are many reports about men who harm babies just because they can, this is quite unsettling.
MARK Lackeby, 32 shook his 5 week old daughter in a fit of rage after he lost a bet in a soccer match. Alex Scott Mill, 21 was charged with assault after his infant daughter suffered four broken ribs and a broken leg due to being negligent while changing her diaper in the morning.
Then lastly Aaron Rosebear from Indiana broke a 15 month old little girl’s arm by swinging her down a hallway because he was frustrated. He was apparently babysitting 6 children while the parents were away. He is still due to be sentenced.

Here are a few tips to be safe
1.       Make sure you find out the background (State Records) of the nanny.
2.       Contact at least three people they worked for before you will hire them.
3.       If possible instill a nanny cam just until you feel satisfied with what goes on during the day.
4.       Lastly make time and pop in during the day surprisingly and observe how your child reacts to the nanny.
It is imperative to read your child’s body language if they are not at a speaking age and be sure to check for bruises or unexplained marks. Remember you can never be too careful when it comes to your kids.
